If you suspect something evil is lurking in your computer take a look at this list of viruses, worms and trojan horses that have been seen recently.

Click the links for more useful information and even programs to clean them up yourself. If in doubt, call kirkor consulting to arrange a site visit and computer analysis. In most cases your computer can be cleaned on site.

  • W32.Beagle.AR@mm - W32.Beagle.AR@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to spread. The email attachment is a downloader, similar to the Mitglieder family of Trojans, that downloads the worm from an external source.
    Comes from a spoofed (and therefore familiar) email address with the attachment "price.exe" (9/29/04) more info and removal tool
  • Trojan.StartPage - a Trojan horse that modifies the Internet Explorer home page without your permission. (8/12/04)
  • W32.Sober.G@mm - mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to spread itself. The subject of the email varies, and it will be in either English or German. The email sender address is spoofed.
    The name of the email attachment varies, and it will have a .bat, .com, .pif, .scr, or .zip file extension. It may also have a double extension.

  • W32.Gaobot.gen!poly - a worm that attempts to spread through network shares with weak passwords. It also allows attackers to access an infected computer using a predetermined IRC channel.

  • W97M.Ortant@mm - a macro virus that has worm and Trojan properties. It attempts to delete system files and antivirus program files.
